Fred Teaching Testimonials
Do you crave a night where desire isn’t just allowed… but celebrated?
SLUT SATURDAY is where fantasies breathe, inhibitions fall away, and the boldest versions of ourselves rise to the surface.
With a long-standing history of working to preserve and improve historic buildings such as the Fox Theater in Oakland, the Greek Theatre in Berkeley and the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, APE seeks to enhance The Castro by implementing significant improvements to the sound, lighting, production, HVAC and the theatre’s trademark marquee, among other facets of the building: all of this, always, with an eye to honoring its unique place in the lives of the Castro and celebrating its communities and residents.
“The Castro Theatre is an icon of the LGBTQ+ community, a treasured space for film, music and live performance and a wonderful building that we will upgrade for more use in the future,” says Gregg Perloff, Another Planet Entertainment, CEO and Co-Founder.

“Another Planet is an ideal partner, as they have a rich history with the City and in rehabilitating historic venues. Additionally, BuildIT, the world’s first LGBTQ construction advocacy organization, has played a major role providing specialized trade professionals to the project. The building will feature modern amenities with a new HVAC system, additional restrooms, and for the first time a fully ADA accessible orchestra, stage and dressing rooms.

“We want to activate and re-energize the building with that always in the forefront of our mind, making improvements to the customer and artist experience, including dressing room upgrades, restoring the marquee and blade and expanding food and beverage service.
Classes will cover the three-act structure, plot charts, loglines, outlines, pitches, character bios, types of conflict, tone, dramatic need, dramatic premise, motivation, character arcs, perceptions of reality, POV, exposition, subtext, multiple story levels, character v plot, cinematic storytelling, and more.
Class size will be limited.
This includes major renovations to accommodate a wider variety of entertainment; opening the venue for the first time to standing room musical performances while still maintaining the seated experience for cinema, comedy and more.
The re-opening will showcase the revitalization of the ceiling’s stunning original artwork along with the sgraffito murals and a long hidden historic proscenium, all masterfully restored by Evergreene Architectural Arts.
We look forward to further contributing to the culture and economy of this vibrant and diverse neighborhood, and involving the community in our planning.”
