Olio e Limone, Olio Crudo Bar & Olio Pizzeria

Santa Barbara County has plenty of great Italian restaurants, but downtown's trendy Olio e Limone (11 W. Victoria St., 805-899-2699) and its neighboring spots Olio Crudo Bar and Olio Pizzeria serve exceptional food and provide top-notch service.

Owned and run by the friendly couple Alberto and Elaine Morello, this restaurant offers delicious modern Italian dishes with a Sicilian twist.

Anything you choose will be good, but I recommend chorizo gorditas, pozole stew, marinated-pork tacos, and guacamole. La Super-Rica Taqueria

Let's talk about it: the late Julia Child, a famous cook, used to praise La Super-Rica Taqueria, a simple Mexican restaurant in downtown Santa Barbara. It sponsors the yearly Santa Barbara Gay Pride festival and sometimes hosts Pride events and other LGBT-related parties in the area.

DJs who are popular come to play here.

But that doesn't automatically make it the top taqueria in California or even in town. Nearby Montecito is known for its celebrity residences, housing notable figures such as Prince Harry and Megan, Oprah, Rob Lowe, Drew Barrymore, and Christopher Lloyd.

Due to its focus on tourism from the beginning, Santa Barbara has numerous options for visitors to enjoy.

Some of their fancy holiday homes can still be seen in the mountainous/foothill area known as "the Riviera" and in certain coastal areas. This fancy place on lower State Street gets many guests all week when it's open (from Wednesday to Saturday). Some people criticize the restaurant for its popularity, long lines, and connection to Julia Child.

Get your food at the counter - most items are under $10, with many even cheaper.

It's a good idea to make reservations, which you can easily do online through the restaurant's website.

The restaurant's wine list mainly features local wines, but it also includes many wines from different parts of California. If you can't wait for a table or prefer a more formal atmosphere, you can drive to East Beach on Milpas Street, which is less than a 10-minute drive away.

It's a bit tricky to get to as you'll need to walk down a bluff, next to train tracks, and through sandy terrain. The restaurant is near the charming Danish-style village of Solvang, which has lots of interesting shops and great tasting rooms.

The Hitching Post is open every night for dinner. Wildcat is located just west of State Street, the main street in this fancy resort town.

For food, the steaks, specifically the filet mignon in 5-, 8-, or 12-ounce sizes, are highly recommended. Some places have LGBT events occasionally, especially during Santa Barbara's Pacific Pride Festival in August. If you're driving south on the 101, take the Padaro Lane exit and turn right. The town has a gay club called Wildcat Lounge, which hosts gay nights on Sundays.

But on most days, this stylish venue mainly attracts heterosexual customers.
