Ken was born on January 24, 1959, in Janesville, Wisconsin, to Lee and Ann (Nicholson) Gay. On February 6, 1987, Ken married Diane Harker, in Fort Wayne. He excelled as a bean bag throw champion and took pride in starting a rope exercise class for his peers.

Kenneth’s legacy lives on through his devoted wife of 51 years, Glenda Gay; his children, Kenneth “Punchy” Gay Jr.,  Kelcey (Keith Sr.) Gay-Mills, Kayla Lubin, Quinnetia Gaines, his grandchildren, Kaylyn Gay, Keithrick Mills Jr., Kenadie Thomas, Krystin Lubin, Katelyn Perry, Brionna Hopes, Jeremiah Hopes-Brown, Jalon Hopes-Brown, Kiran Brown.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his grandson, Kendal Mikel Mose, and daughter at birth, Josephine Gay.

Kenneth Ray Gay will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and beacon of kindness and faith.

Kenneth was the church’s financial secretary for over 40 years, embodying faith and dedication.

A true entrepreneur at heart, Kenneth started an income tax service in 1975,  which later became K&T Tax Service, a business that flourished and became a cornerstone of his community connections. In 2005, he launched Higher Dimensions, a home healthcare business in Shreveport, Louisiana, serving as CEO for nearly a decade.

Kenneth's commitment to his community was unwavering.

Kenneth’s commitment extended beyond his work as he faithfully served as the treasurer of the Firestone Polymers Credit Union for over 12 years.

On August 11, 1973, Kenneth married the love of his life, Glenda Gay, in a union that spanned 51 beautiful years. Pastor Monty Harlan will officiate. While at Grambling, Kenneth was an enthusiastic member of the Grambling Tiger Marching Band and served as a Resident Assistant, forming lifelong memories and friendships.

Kenneth began his professional career in Lake Charles, Louisiana, in 1971 as an accountant at T.L.

James Construction. On November 19, 2024, he peacefully departed this earthly life to join his heavenly home.

At a young age, Kenneth’s devotion to Christ began early when he was baptized at Lake Street Church of Christ in Natchitoches, Louisiana. He often said, 'Judge yourself by helping those who can’t help you even when you know one is watching,' and “God always takes care of his people!”

With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Kenneth Ray Gay (Lake Charles, Louisiana), born in Natchitoches, Louisiana, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many.

He served as a mentor, role model, and leader in various organizations, including Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. (Distinguished Service Member), the NAACP LC Chapter #6602 (President), Big Brothers and Big Sisters (Board Member), Mid-City Little League Baseball (Head Coach/Board Member), and the Natchitoches Parish Civic Board.

Known for his kind spirit, optimism, and generosity, Kenneth was a gentle giant who touched the lives of many.

Kenneth “Ken” Gay, 65, of rural Albion, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024.

Ken was also known for his humor and creativity. Dinner will follow the Celebration of Life, at Bear Lake Camp.

His faith remained a cornerstone of his life, guiding his journey and inspiring those around him.

A proud 1967 Natchitoches Central High School graduate, Kenneth excelled in mathematics and showcased his musical talent as a trumpet player in the high school band.

In 1973, he joined Firestone Polymers, serving 40 years in the Accounting Department retiring as a Senior Cost Accountant. He found joy in hobbies like basketball, bowling, chess, dominoes, motorcycle riding, and attending reunions with high school and college classmates.

In his later years, Kenneth was a proud participant in senior activities at the Pryce/Miller Recreation Center (LC Ward 3).

His impact will continue to inspire and guide those fortunate to know him. His academic and personal achievements continued at Grambling State University, where he graduated in 1971 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He enjoyed gardening, bird watching, NASCAR, and watching the Green Bay Packers.

Surviving Ken are his daughters Kristin (Jeff) Rush, of Albion, and Britnie (Max Berkes Jr.) Gay, of Albion; father Lee Gay; step-son Colin Harker, of Syracuse; step daughter-in-law Kim Waggoner, of Etna Green; brothers Keith (Julie) Gay, of Woodburn, and Bill (Michelle) Gay, of Missouri; grandchildren Holly (David) Katzka, of Milwaukee, Mikayla, Nick, Taylor, Jordan, Tyler, Dakota, Conner, Camden, Charlotte, Kyra, Olivia, and Evelyn; and 3 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife Diane, and his mother Ann.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00pm, Sunday, September 15, 2024, at Bear Lake Church Camp Chapel.

Ken retired from General Motors, where he was part of the UAW.

Ken was known as the “groundskeeper” at the Bear Lake Church Camp, where he helped anywhere he could.

Kenneth left this world on November 19, 2024 at the age of 74, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. Together, they raised two children, Kenneth Jr. ("Punchy") and Kelcey, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he was an active Mill Street Church of Christ member.
